The Real Avatar Mountains

Felt like another world

I have wanted to visit the much talked about Zhangjiajie’s Natural Forest Park, which is better known as the Avatar Mountains, for a long time now. After an adventurous 24 hours train ride from Beijing to Zhangjiajie 张家界, we directly rode to Wulingyuan, where our hotel is located and is the main scenic area.
We were completely breath taken by these out-of-this-world like formations all over the Natural Forest Park, which resulted in many years of water erosion. From either below or above, no one of us has seen a landscape similar to this. The transportation system within the park was really convenient and there were buses everywhere around the main sights. As Zhangjiajie is known for its foggy weather and counts more than 200 days of rain per year, we were really lucky during our stay, as we were able to see most of the sights in this mysterious and misty way.
